Do you have a wiggly switch or jiggly outlet? Or does nothing happen when you use them? Do you see a spark whenever you unplug the vacuum cleaner? You need an electrician!

We have the equipment, and experience, to do just about any electrical repair work. We can replace your wiggly switches and jiggly outlets. We can find the cause of that failure or spark, and fix it.

More than 30,000 people suffer electrical shocks every year. 60 die. Every day, five or more children are treated in hospital emergency rooms for electrical shock or burn injuries caused by tampering with a wall outlet. (Source: ESFI.org)

There are many things you can do to be safe around electricity. If an outlet or switch doesn’t work or “feels weird” have it replaced. Any time you see sparks near an outlet, call an electrician! There may be something wrong, such as a reversed wire, that will affect your whole house electrical system. These are rare, but we still find them in older homes, or in cases where repairs were not made by an electrician.

We all know not to dry our hair in the bathtub, or drop the toaster in the dishpan—we’ll get shocked.  Did you know that there’s a special outlet, called a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlet, which will shut the power off to an appliance in less than 30 milliseconds after an accident—before you get electrocuted? These outlets are required in all new kitchens and bathrooms by the National Electric Code. We can change out your old-style outlets with new GFCI outlets to give you the peace of mind they bring.  If your house has older, two pronged outlets (ungrounded outlets), replacing them with specially labeled GFCI outlets will allow you to plug in newer devices while keeping you safe.

If you have concerns about your electrical system, give us a call. William Longo Electric provides products and service you can rely on.
